31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 26

Posted by Starlett Approved at 5:22 PM 0 comments
Hey there beautiful people! It's time for Day 26 of the challenge.  The theme is inspired by a pattern.  I chose the pattern on one my favorite pair of socks.
I actually put this design on my second nail wheel last year.  Not sure why it took me so long to put the design on my nails.   I guess it's a good thing I didn't do it already.  It made figuring out what to do for todays challenge so much easier.
I was not looking forward to tackling this design today.  I didn't know if I should use tape or just freehand it.  In the end I just did it freehand and cleaned up any little messes as best I could.
I love the way they came out.  Another manicure I might cry a little when I have to take it off later :(.  Funny thing and by complete accident, I'm wearing the socks to match my nails right now hehe.  No feet pictures for you lol.

  • Sinful Colors Exotic Green
  • Sinful Colors Pull Over
  • Sinful Colors Nail Art No More

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 25

First I want to apologize for not posting yesterday, I'm a bad blogger tsk tsk.  I woke up and I wasn't feeling 100% and I had some housework that NEEDED to get done. So by the time I finished my nails it was 8pm :/.  But I did post twice Wednesday that makes up for it, right? :(.  Well, here are my Day 25: Inspired by Fashion nails!
I'm your typical girlish girl, I love fashion.  Clothes, makeup, jewelry, shoes, nail polish, gimme gimme I love it.  Naturally I was looking forward to this challenge.  I hit up TopShop.com and found this beauty.
I had to recreate it!  Especially since I've been trying to weasel a zig zag design into this challenge.  I haven't actually done one before.
Didn't do too bad, if I do say so myself.  I messed up on a nail but it's not too noticeable.  Can you tell which one? Haha
I love the way these came out.  There's nothing better than some glitter, right?  Well except the next day when you need to take it off :/ Why do I hate myself? Lol A huge thank you to the creator of the tin foil glitter removal technique.  I do want to make myself some glue base so I can just peel it off.  Any of you try that out yet?

  • Sephora by O.P.I Sugar Plum Fairies Gone Wild

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 24

Posted by Starlett Approved at 7:37 PM 0 comments
Oh my goodness, 2 posts in one day? Complete madness, nah I just really need to catch up with the challenge.  I'm back again today with Day 24: Inspired by a Book.  My novel of choice is by The Misters favorite author Terry Pratchett.
A Discworld novel called Feet of Clay.  The whole Discworld Series is awesome and I've been meaning to pick up where I left off.  But I can't find a moment in my day or night to just chillax with a great book.
Honestly I can't remember if I read this one yet.   I pretty much just went through The Misters vast collection of Terry Pratchett novels looking for a cover that would make for beautiful nail art.  Feet of Clay won!
Then I got to the feet and started regretting my decision :(.  Trying to draw feet on your nails is hard enough.  A foot with 6 toes IMPOSSIBLE haha.  Did my best and got 4 toes on there lol.
The bubbles are definitely my favorite.  It's why I chose this book.  For this design all I used were dotting tools, the ends of some of my brushes and my favorite homemade nail art brush.  Homemade? You ask.  It's just an old liquid eyeliner brush I cleaned and cut a tiny bit of girth off of.  WHAT!!?!! Lol Do you have any nifty handmade nail art tools?

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 23

Hey peeps, I'm going to keep this post short and sexy ;).  For Day 23: Inspired by a Movie I chose Star Wars.  Mainly because I tried to execute this exact design last year and failed, miserably haha.
It's Darth Vader and a red Lightsaber!!! These nails were all about the matte and shiny effect.
Here's a shot of the lightsaber connected.  I was actually patient enough to use tape for these haha.  I needed to make sure I was lined up perfectly.  How are you with tape manicures?  I always give up and freehand it.
Oddly, I couldn't get a good photo of Darth Vader using the lightbox and my digital camera.  But using my phone and the lighting in my bathroom he showed up perfectly.  I know I could have just used black and white or gray/silver to detail Vader.  I really wanted to stay true to the fact that he's all black.  It's not the most amazing Darth Vader I suck at character drawings but I'm very proud of it.  It's 100 times better than the first :)

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 22

Posted by Starlett Approved at 12:52 PM 2 comments
Hello there, I'm back YAY!!! I've missed you guys something fierce.  It's only been 3 days but it feels like a century.   If you follow me on tumblr you know that I took a time out to handle my lighting situation.  If you follow me on Instagram you may already know that I made myself a light box yesterday and mama LOVES it.  Having a light box is the most amazing thing to me.  I'm no longer a slave to the sun.  I can do my nails and take photos of them WHENEVER I want...AH-MAZING!!!  So I finally have for you my Inspired by a Song nails.
This was a really difficult challenge for me. I'm a full time mom and the only songs I know are on Nick Jr and Disney Junior smh.  For some reason not even old songs sparked inspiration.  I thought about my nails from last year I did Rude Boy by Rihanna then I thought of her BFF Katy Perry.  Then I thought Part Of Me would be perfect.  I've never done camouflage on my nails before.

You know you have A LOT of nail polishes when you don't remember what you have haha.  After I made the decision to do camouflage nails I went to get the colors I would need.  Crossing my fingers I would find greens close enough to what I was looking for.
Then in the last drawer I found Sephora by O.P.I Caught With My Khakis Down and Sephora Military Green...VICTORY!  I started this design with 2 coats of CWMKD.  I then let that dry completely. Using only a double ended dotting tool I added the random shapes and lines.
I referenced a google image of a camo onesie to figure out the balance of the shapes and colors. Of course the mommy would pick the onesie image haha.  I'm going to do my best to catch up on my challenges so I can finish on time with everyone else.  Maybe you'll even see me again later today ;)

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 21

Happy Friday!!! Any big plans this weekend? Me? Nothing big, but I do have a date with 2 of my favorite chicas tonight.  Looking forward to seeing them.  Before I get into todays nails I guess I have a little disclaimer/warning, I don't know what to call it haha.
Any woot, at this present time they are doing construction on the outside of my building.  It's been going on since probably June.  There is scaffolding around the whole building, I'm on the first floor :(.  That being said my natural lighting for my photos has been murdered.  Sometimes I'm able to get enough light but today not so much.  They started blocking my windows with boards during the day.  I'm working on making a light box but for now I'm trying to make my in house lighting work for me.  Please let me know if you feel the photos suck lol and what you think I should do, thank you in advance ;). Now back to our regularly scheduled program.
Lets talk about todays theme.  It's the first of the Inspired By themes of the challenge and it's A Color.  I was just as annoyed/confused by this one as I was last year.  Last year I stole Sarah of Chalkboard Nails idea of being inspired by the name of a nail polish color.  For example I chose Maybelline Autumn Leaves so I drew leaves, SEE! :) Wasn't feeling doing that again.  I decided to pick a color that wasn't a part of the Color Themes and go with what that color makes me think of.
I chose the color pink and the first thing I thought of was Uniqua.  She's a character from one of my sons favorite shows (I'm not going to lie I love the show too) The Backyardigans.
I love the way they came out.  It was super easy to do.  I thought I was going to need tape.  I had it all set up but didn't bother.  I feel like tape just gives me more work haha.
I bet you're wondering how I did the big polka dots, huh? :) I just used the end of my clean up brush.  Anything can be a dotting tool.  Just don't clean it like one :/

Polishes Used:
  • Sinful Colors Dressed to Kill
  • Maybelline Posy Pink

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 20

Posted by Starlett Approved at 4:00 PM 0 comments
Hey there beautiful people!  It's day 20 of the challenge and the theme is Water Marble.  I'm definitely not a huge fan of doing water marble.  They are extremely beautiful and I love them when someone else like Victoria of Victoria's Nails or Jessica of Gorjess Nails does it.  Their water marble manicures are always flawless and magical to me.  I normally don't have the patience for it.  That is probably why I steer clear of doing it, if I can.  Couldn't do that today, my slight OCD would never allow me to miss a day if it's not an emergency.  I'm happy to share with all of you water marble nail art I'm actually proud of.
It took 2 failed attempts before I finally got it right.  My only regret is not doing it last night when I originally planned to.  I sort of got stuck watching Friends with Benefits.  Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis are HOT!! :)
My first attempt was with completely different colors and I tried using a small dappen glass for the water.  That was just a mess and apparently my water was too warm.  For my second attempt I used my usual small glass bowl with room temperature water.  I then realized the nail polishes I was using wasn't working well.
I took a deep breath and a Cheez-It break with Micah before getting back at it.  I changed my color scheme and nail polishes.  Changed up the pattern that I was dropping the polish into the water.  I honed in on some patience, then it all came together.  It isn't perfection but this is a water marble win for me!!!

Polishes Used:
  • Wet n Wild French White Creme
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear The Real Teal
  • Sinful Colors Clementine
  • Essie Mesmerize
Another 10 challenges down only 11 more to go.  What was your favorite manicure for the Pattern Themes?  It's definitely hard for me to choose, but I would have to say Tribal and Galaxy.  But I really do love them ALL!!

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 19

Posted by Starlett Approved at 3:07 PM 6 comments
It's Galaxy Day Hooray, I love galaxy nails. It's one of the first nail designs I saw online and my jaw dropped.  That may have been the moment I became obsessed with nail art.  I had to learn how to do it myself.  Funny enough my first attempt at it was last year for this challenge.  Wow, I remember thinking they were amazing.  I was so proud of them.  They aren't very sexy haha.  I'm happy to say I've gotten much better at galaxy nails when I did them back in February. Galaxy nails are definitely in the same category as Leopard/Cheetah print, Zebra print, Polka Dots and Stripes.  Everyone does them but no one can not love a sexy galaxy design.  They are just out of this world!!! Pun intended lol.  Of course, you know I had to try to spice up my galaxy nails for todays challenge ;) Warning: this post is a bit picture heavy!

Behold Galaxy Drips!  A product of another nail art dream I had. I need more nail art dreams in my life. Ahhh they came out so awesome.  I love these...like hard.  I actually had a few ideas for todays design but the drips kept calling me.  So happy I listened to myself. These came out exactly as I imagined.
Mr. Starlett Approved says it looks like the galaxy is taking over the nail polish.  I disagree, nail polish is taking over the galaxy.  #NailPolishRulesTheWorld lol at least our world, right?
As difficult as the design may look it was really easy actually.  I started with 2 coats of Brucci Mango Taffy then used the largest ended dotting tool and placed 3 random dots of City Colors Dark Blue on each nail.  Using the brush of the City Colors Dark Blue I made a line from the dots I made to the tip of my nail and then connected the lines at the tip.
Then I went over the drips with L.A. Colors Jewel Tone, a purple and blue glitter.  I let that dry completely before I started sponging.  After it dried only using the very tip of my makeup sponge that I cut into small pieces. I sponged Wet n Wild French White Creme then Sally Hansen Going Green, O.P.I Fly and Wet n Wild On a Trip around the white.  I also sponged on a random spot using Wet n Wild Black Creme on each nail. Finally I added more glitter using New York Color Starry Silver Glitter and some scattered white dots for twinkling stars.  Of course I couldn't stop there.
I had to make it Glow in the Dark :) using Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Luminescent.  Especially because my first galaxy attempt I tried and failed to get it to glow properly and take a photo.  Yes I had some stray sponge marks on my base colors I just went over it using a tiny brush.  Since my base color was a jelly, cleaning up the mistakes wasn't flawless.  I know better for next time though ;).

Polishes Used:
  • Brucci Mango Taffy
  • City Colors Dark Blue
  • L.A. Colors Color Craze Jewel Tone
  • Wet n Wild French White Creme

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 18

Posted by Starlett Approved at 3:07 PM 2 comments
Hey there dolls! ;) Only 13 days left in the challenge.  I'm still good, haven't cracked yet.  No nail polish throwing tantrums (as if right? I would never harm my preciouses).  How is everyone else holding up?
Well, todays theme is Half Moons, the very classy alternative to the French Manicure.  I actually did my first half moon manicure years before it even had a name.  I just called it a reverse french manicure lol.

Check me out! This was my 21st Birthday...fun times!!!
I decided to spice up my half moons for this challenge.  Instead of rounded moons I went for triangular ones using L.A. Colors Art Deco Red and Sinful Colors Queen of Beauty to outline it.
To keep the madness going I did a striped base using L'oreal Night Vision and Kiss Nail Art Paint Pearl Blue. Rather than a basic solid color.  I need more L'oreal nail polishes in my collection.  Good lord the application was so smooth.
These are so cute and perfect for fall.  It actually reminds me of my Middle School uniform.  Our colors were navy blue, red and grey haha.  Awwwwwww I miss Philippa Schuyler :( These nails have me in a very nostalgic mood.  I'm gonna go dig up my high school yearbook now lol.
Polishes Used:
  • L'Oreal Night Vision
  • Sinful Colors Queen of Beauty

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 17

What up boos?  It's Monday WOOT WOOT.  You must think something is wrong with me.  Who in their right mind gets excited for Monday?  This girl does on THIS Monday lol.  Why? Because I got the most awesome surprise when I got out of the shower today, TMI?  It's nice to know your girl keeps it fresh and so clean clean haha. I WON A GIVEAWAY!!! Hosted by babes Marie of PrettyProject .  I got myself 2 sexy Floss Gloss polishes headed my way!!!!  The icing on the cupcake...it's GLITTER Day baby!  Glitter makes everything 100 times better :).  That's why for todays challenge I used GLEQUINS.
Oh and greetings from Senorita Right Hand.  I wasn't kidding when I said I loved my tribal nails and didn't want to take them off.  So I didn't and decided to finally put some color on my right hand.  Please excuse the awkward hand poses, Righty isn't use to all this attention :).  How sexy is glequins? It's glitters super hot cousin. Oh Sammy of The Nailasaurus thanks for introducing us.
For todays challenge I did some glitter placement on top of saran wrap nails.  Told you I was going to get my saran wrap on again and use more colors ;).  Inspired by my boo Very Emily I had to do glitter frames along with 2 accent nails with a starburst (as I like to call it) glitter design.
The nail polishes I chose for the base design go so perfectly with the glequins.  The color of the glequins shifts from pink, purple, green and blue.  It's just mesmerizing.  I took Micah to the park and he kicked me a couple of times on the swings because I was so distracted by the pretty glequins haha.  If you're a glitter girl like me you NEED to get some glequins from Born Pretty Store.  Sure you might bump into walls staring at your hands but it's worth it lol.

Polishes Used:
Wet n Wild How I Met Your Magenta
Wet n Wild On A Trip

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 16

Posted by Starlett Approved at 3:18 PM 2 comments
Hey guys, how is everyone? Enjoying your weekend I assume.  There is nothing better to me than an Autumn Sunday.  The sun is shining, perfect brisk weather, just nice and cozy :). Yeah I'm a Fall girl, I love all the seasons but Fall is the only one that I don't have any complaints about.  What's your favorite season?  Look at me rambling on about the weather and seasons.  You came here for nail art, let me give you what you want ;).  The theme for today is Tribal Print which I was looking forward to possibly the most.  I can count on 1 hand how many times I've done tribal print nail art.  Right before I decided to do this challenge again, I told myself I need to do some tribal print designs.  I fall in love everytime I see tribal/aztec print nails.  Recently I fell HEAD OVER HEELS for a WAH Nails manicure I saw on Instagram Peep it here! Of course I needed to recreate it!!
These seriously take my breath away.  The white base, the random multicolor sponging and THE GOLD STUDS!!! I love all the studs.  I'm also convinced I was destined to do this design for todays challenge.  I placed an order August 23rd with BornPrettyStore for more studs.  I already had the 2mm round gold studs and I ordered 3mm round gold studs.  Guess what was in my mailbox yesterday? Yup you guessed it my BPS order with the studs. With the nail god clearly wanted this manicure to happen, I needed to do this design justice.
I think I did it justice, the nail gods should be pleased.  My trouble with tribal print are the tiny details. Which I didn't do too badly today considering my nubs.  I'm famous for attempting tribal nails right after I cut my nails smh.  Clearly I just love torturing myself haha.
To create these nails I decided to go Wet n Wild polish crazy, I have so many.  A lot of them I haven't even used once.

Polishes Used:
  • Wet n Wild French White Creme
  • Wet n Wild Fuchsia Rama
  • Wet n Wild The Wonder Yellows
  • Wet n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond
  • Wet n Wild Saved by the Blue
  • Wet n Wild Sage in the City
  • Models Own Wah Nails Black
