November Sahshe Box

Posted by Starlett Approved at 12:30 PM 0 comments
Hey Babes!!  Sorry for the late post I was suffering from a Thanksgiving food coma lol.  I hope all my American followers had a beautiful Thanksgiving, I sure did (she said staring at her gut).
Todays' post is the first of a monthly series I'd like to start doing.  I'll be going through and  sort of reviewing the contents of my monthly beauty box from Sahshe.
Sahshe was founded by best friends Carron White and Ruth Fombrun, targeted for women of color.  It's $12 a month and I love it.  On its site they describe it as getting a birthday gift from your best girlfriend every month and IT IS!  I get so excited when my mailman hands it to me and I love their packaging, so cute!
Once a month my product junkie monster is appeased with sample items ranging from candles to curling creams.  This month was all about battling the cold and keeping your body and hair moisturized.  So let's see what I got.

The first thing I used was the Sienna Naturals Baobab Oil Moisturizing Hair and Body Shampoo, and I like it.  It has a light pretty rose water scent and it left my skin feeling soft and clean.

Keeping with the soft and sexy skin theme the box also included the Sienna Naturals Baobab Oil Moisturizing Cream.  OMG this stuff, my skin just soaked it all in.  It left my skin soft and glowing, favorite combination ;-)

The next item was the Kiss My Face 4 in 1 moisture shave.  It was okay, I didn't think it was any more moisturizing than my usual shaving cream.  I do think it's perfect for sensitive skin and shaving those sensitive areas.

Last but not least was by far the thing I was MOST excited to try, Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating Conditioner.  I've seen a few hair girls mention the Conditioner on YouTube and was looking forward to trying it.  I used it to co-wash my wash n'go and I loved it.  Lots of slip for easy detangling and the minty tingle during the scalp massage, so refreshing.  It's definitely on the list of hair product favs.

Each month there's a bonus item.  For November it was a cute orange makeup bag, that I'm using to hold the makeup I plan to use that day/night.  Makes my life so much easier having to bring all that makeup to the bathroom.
I hope you enjoyed this post.  I'm looking forward to doing more.  Can't wait to get my December box :-D If you're interested in subscribing to Sahshe here is the link!

My Hair Journey

Posted by Starlett Approved at 10:23 AM 0 comments
Hey loves! I hope you all had a good week.  I actually had a little me time, a mommy time out.  I saw a really good movie, The Best Man Holiday.  Did any of you see it?  I loved it, it will definitely become a holiday time staple right next to Love Actually :-) I can't believe the holidays are here, Thanksgiving is next week!! Where did the year go?  Anywoot, it's Friday and as you noticed by the title it's not a nail post...It's about my hair!

I mentioned to you last week that during my hiatus one of the things I spent my time focused on was my hair and getting it healthy.  To share my journey thus far with all of you I put together a little hair journey video.  I'm excited about it because I LOVE watching these types of videos, it kept me so motivated to put the work in for healthy hair.

I hope you enjoyed the video.  I mentioned in the video I watched YouTube videos that inspired me on my journey and I will link those ladies below.  I definitely plan on doing more hair posts, such as favorite products and my hair routine.

Hey There Loves!!

Posted by Starlett Approved at 12:59 PM 0 comments
Hey there loves, it's been a long a#$ time.  Damn, that was some blogging break lol, but definitely needed.  During that time I focused on fitness, my healthy hair journey, skincare and of course my family :-) I've been missing this and all of you <3.  So starting today I will try to have at least one post for you a week,  every Friday.  Oh wait, it is Friday...let's get down to the good stuff.  I got some nail art for ya!
Today I have for you a sort of gothic cross pattern mani.  It's such a simple design but I love it so much.  I'm also LOVING the texture polish trend.  It's a really cool accent to any mani.  As a naturalista, we're not friends lol.  Finger detangling SUCKS with texture polish.  I have to take it off on wash days.

Polishes Used:
Sinful Colors Go Go Girl
Revlon Black Magic
Sinful Colors This Is It
Sephora by OPI I Found A Pot Of Gold
Sally Hansen Lick-O-Rich

I'm really excited to be back!!  Look out for more nails, beauty and even hair posts ;-)
See Ya Soon

Taking a Blog Break....

Posted by Starlett Approved at 3:59 PM 2 comments
Hey beautifuls,
I've decided to make a post to let all of you know that I'm officially taking a break from blogging.  There are a lot of personal things I want to focus my energy on right now.  I will still be doing my nails, I will never stop that :-D but I won't be creating a blogpost for them.  If you want to see any new nails I do you can check them out on my Instagram or Tumblr accounts.
I really enjoy blogging so I may definitely pick it back up in the near future.  But as of right now I'm not in the right frame of mind to give my blog all that it deserves.
Thank you so much for following me and all the love you've shown me!

See You Soon!

Fantasy Fire over Milani Deep Thought- Swatches

Posted by Starlett Approved at 12:45 PM 4 comments
Happy New Year lovers! I can't believe it's already 2013. What happened to 2012, it seriously just zoomed by. For the New Year my blog-elution is to do more swatches and makeup posts.  To kick off that resolution, today I have for you my first manicure.  Max Factor Fantasy Fire over Milani Deep Thoughts.
There is nothing new I can say about Fantasy Fire that you don't already know.  It's just EPIC, simply put.  The way it transforms a color is magical.  When I first got it last year I wore it over the always popular Revlon Royal, you can see that here.  I tried it before over purple but it wasn't the right purple.  Milani Deep Thoughts is the PERFECT purple for Fantasy Fire.  It's just this deep rich hue and the formula is AH-MAZING!
Look at the gorgeous color shift from red to gold to green.  Just to let you know this is a picture heavy post....next picture lol!
This is my FAVORITE photo.  I can't believe I was able to capture this, the blessings of a lightbox hehe.
Here's a close-up, Fantasy Fire is honestly the perfect name for this nail polish.  It makes me think of a dragons' breath, especially over Deep Thoughts.  There's a very mythical look to it or I'm just bugging from my cold lol.
SWOON! :D  I think I might like it over Deep Thoughts more than Royal.
What do you think?  What's your favorite Fantasy Fire combo?  Is there a color combo you would like to see Fantasy Fire/Clarins 230 over?  Let me know below ;)

Then and Now Week 4

Posted by Starlett Approved at 11:23 AM 8 comments
Hi loves!
Yes I know I've been gone FOREVER.  I'm sorry I disappeared.  Life and the holidays took a hold of me.  It left me with little energy and motivation to do my own nails.  Yesterday I was bit by the inspiration bug and finally did nail art.  So today I have for you my 4th installment of the Then and Now Challenge.
I loved my original design, it was inspired by Hey Nice Nails! They are the reason I fell in love with negative space nail art.  It's so minimalist and modern.  Just super cool to me :).
This time around I didn't choose a design that I could improve on, just do differently.  I was having a hard time figuring out how to change it up.  Then a rainbow graffiti style tape mani came to me all thanks to my dear dear friend, my boo Alexandra aka Algae Veronica
These were very easy to do.  All you need is tape, I used French manicure tape, a makeup sponge and of course the nail colors of your choice.  To help the colors stand out I used a white base before I started sponging on the colors.

I'm going to try to not vanish on you guys again :). Have a great last weekend of 2012!!!

What I Used:

  • Sally Hansen Jewel Overcoat Multi-Faceted
  • Milani White On The Spot
  • Milani Fast Fuchsia
  • Milani Dude Blue
  • Milani Violet Dash
  • Milani Yellow Whiz
  • Milani Black Swift

Candy Cane Print

Posted by Starlett Approved at 11:43 AM 1 comments
Hey lovelies, how's everyone doing today?  Wow, I can't believe it's already December and the holidays are here. To help get me into the spirit of things, I decided to do Christmas nails this week.
I was in the mood to do candy cane nails but I didn't want to just do stripes.  So I talked myself into doing candy cane print instead.  They were much easier to do than I imagined.
I was holding my breath a lot during this manicure haha.  I painted my right hand first and realized covering up any mistakes with the glitter wasn't going to work :/.  But  any other base color should be easy.
Originally for the other nails I was going to do glitter placement stripes.  Then at the last moment I decided on a frosty glitter fade with glitter dots.  I love how these came out and I do not look forward to removing them so soon for the Then and Now challenge :(.  I definitely plan on doing more holiday nails.

If you have any suggestions let me know.  I would love to hear from you ;)

What I Used:
  • China Glaze Glistening Snow
  • Wet n Wild French White Creme
  • Wet n Wild Red Red
  • Wet n Wild coloricon mini Red Glitter
Thanks For Stopping By!
