Going with a Classic

Posted by Starlett Approved at 3:45 PM 3 comments
Happy New Year, Beautiful!!
Hey there, I hope everyone is having a great start to the new year.  2013 ended eh for me, I was sick and it was nasty.  It left me a bit blah, so I decided to do something simple for today's post.  I thought it was only fitting to begin the new year with what started all of this...nail art.  To be more specific leopard print nail art.
In 2011 I reacquainted myself with nail art, after a very long hiatus lol, because I wanted leopard print on my nails.  Now it's a classic nail design, right there with the french manicure.  But always feeling new with the countless number of color combos you can do.  For this design I used O.P.I. Don't Pretzel My Buttons (a serious lemming I'm so happy it's finally mine), Sephora by O.P.I. Caught With My Khakis Down, and China Glaze Mingle with Kringle.  I have a couple gold polishes and Mingle with Kringle is DEFINITELY my favorite.  Do you see it's gorgeousness?  It's the perfect gold!!!  I feel sorry for my other golds because they are seriously about to get neglected lol.

What was your gateway design into nail art?  I'd love to know, let me know in the comments below.

New Year's Eve Complete Look

Posted by Starlett Approved at 2:38 PM 0 comments
Salutations beautiful, hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Mine was perfect, I got everything I wanted, great times with family and Micah was the happiest little monster, with all his new toys.  I actually can't believe it's over and we're headed towards the new year, and the biggest party night of the year.

For my last post of 2013, I put together another completed look for you guys.  New Year's Eve makeup, nails and a Polyvore set.  New Year's Eve is all about glitter and bling.  I believe I brought the sparkle lol. Let's just jump right into it, shall we? First up, the makeup...

Ermagerd, I'm soooo happy with the way these came out. The gold is much more intense IRL. I wish you could see it.  To get this eye look I used Stila Eyeshadow trio Gold Glow and Make up Forever Diamond Shadow Diamond Black.  Here's how I used them:

I hope that photo was helpful.  Now you can try this out for yourself if you'd like. This look is so versatile you can pretty much wear any lip color.  You can go bold like I did with purple.  This is Revlon Matte Balm in Shameless...

Or you can wear a classic red, pink or nude lip.  If you're real adventurous even gold, it's New Year's Eve go cray cray lol.

Here's a list of the other products I used.

Eyes
Urban Decay Primer Potion Original
Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Eye Liner Blackest Black
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Black
Cargo Lash Activator
Milani Total Lash Cover Black

Eyebrows
Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Kit
E.L.F. Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Mascara Clear

Lips
Revlon Matte Balm Shameless

Face
NYC Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer 684
Revlon Nearly Naked Liquid Foundation Caramel 260
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer Cafe 30
Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer Yellow Corrects (Highlight)
Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder Medium Deep
Valana Loose Powder Red Amber (Contour)
Nars Super Orgasm
L'Oréal Magic Lumi Highlighter Deep
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Flower Crown Forever 21

Now the nails....

Nothing fancy, just gold glitter polish and rhinestones.  I wanted to use loose gold glitter but my Born Pretty Store order wants to take 2 months to get to me :(.  China Glaze Angel Wings is definitely a gorgeous substitute.  The rhinestones are from Born Pretty Store.

To bring it all together, a New Year's Eve party outfit inspiration.

This post may suggest otherwise but I actually plan on staying home and ringing in the New Year with my boys.  I live in NYC but I've only gone to a New Year's Eve party ONCE, and I don't ever plan on doing it again lol.
What are your New Year's Eve Plans?

Thanks For Stopping By!   Happy New Year, See ya in 2014

Winter Wonderland

Posted by Starlett Approved at 3:49 PM 0 comments
Hola Senoritas, What's up?  Did any of you see Frozen yet?  The fam and I went to see it Wednesday and ermagerd it's so amazing!  I'm completely obsessed with it, everyone should see it. It needs to hurry up and come out on Blu-Ray so I can watch it EVERYDAY haha. By complete coincidence my nails for today's post matched the wintery wonder of the movie.
I just love this time of year.  The colder weather, snow (if we ever get any in New York), cozy time with a cup of hot chocolate, the holidays, scarves and sweaters.  I just had to put that winter love into a nail design.
I really love how these came out.  It looks exactly as I thought in my head (that is not always the case lol).  Is it weird that my favorite design is the thumb? Lol, I can be so boring.  I wanted to do matte white polka dots on naked nails since I saw it on Marie of Pretty Project.

Which is your favorite nail? The snowy gradient, the snowflakes or the snowballs? :-D

Polishes Used:
Revlon Spirit
China Glaze Frostbite
All That Glitters Spotty Dottie Light
Finger Paints Santa's Magic
New York Color Matte Me Crazy

Candy Cane Print

Posted by Starlett Approved at 11:43 AM 1 comments
Hey lovelies, how's everyone doing today?  Wow, I can't believe it's already December and the holidays are here. To help get me into the spirit of things, I decided to do Christmas nails this week.
I was in the mood to do candy cane nails but I didn't want to just do stripes.  So I talked myself into doing candy cane print instead.  They were much easier to do than I imagined.
I was holding my breath a lot during this manicure haha.  I painted my right hand first and realized covering up any mistakes with the glitter wasn't going to work :/.  But  any other base color should be easy.
Originally for the other nails I was going to do glitter placement stripes.  Then at the last moment I decided on a frosty glitter fade with glitter dots.  I love how these came out and I do not look forward to removing them so soon for the Then and Now challenge :(.  I definitely plan on doing more holiday nails.

If you have any suggestions let me know.  I would love to hear from you ;)

What I Used:
  • China Glaze Glistening Snow
  • Wet n Wild French White Creme
  • Wet n Wild Red Red
  • Wet n Wild coloricon mini Red Glitter
Thanks For Stopping By!
