31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 7

Posted by Starlett Approved at 2:51 PM 0 comments
Yay it's Day 7, by far my favorite challenge theme...Black & White!  These two colors together is EVERYTHING to me.  My wardrobe is 95% black and white. My home is 90% black and white haha.  So naturally I LOVE these nails something fierce!

Blissful Sigh I can stare at these forever :). This was my first time doing the Saran Wrap technique.  I've been wanting to do it forever but just never got around to it.  Plus I kept forgetting to buy Saran Wrap :/.

Before tackling this design I watched Chelsea of GetNailed tutorial to see how it's done. I thought it was going to be a little more complicated.  I love when designs are easier than they look.  Almost as much as I love Ebony & Ivory haha.

Did I mention that I love how they came out?  They look like my dream kitchen.  Black & White marble counters with gold accents.  Now I want a snack, be right back :).  I love a design even more when Mr. Starlett Approved thinks it's cool and shocked that I did it on my nails.  Even if I was sitting next to him the whole time while watching Alphas.
This is my least favorite part of  The 31 Day Challenge.  When I do a manicure I love and can't enjoy it :( because I have to remove it the next day BOOO!

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 6

Posted by Starlett Approved at 1:11 PM 2 comments
Day 6-Violet brought to you by Sinful Colors.  Not for real but completely true.  This may be the first time I've ever done nail art and only used one brand.  Of course not including base and top coat.  While setting up to do my nails I realized all the polishes were Sinful Colors, crazy!  Maybe it's because my selection of violet is pretty slim, and I have a lot of Sinful Colors in my collection. If I have any shades of violet it's gonna be from them.

For these nails I started off with 1 coat of Sinful Colors Fiji.  It's a very pretty super sheer purple with a light holo shimmer.  Followed by 3 coats of Sinful Colors Frenzy, a gorgeous purple and turquoise glitter polish.  So, funny fact I actually used this same glitter polish last year for the same challenge haha See Here.

This manicure came out exactly how I wanted.  Just an insane violet overload.  I've been seeing these multiline nails everywhere lately.  I like them a lot it's a refreshing alternative to basic stripes.  Ideas for Day 12 are brewing as I type :).  I'm having so much more fun with this challenge this time around.  Probably because I'm way better at nails than I was last year :) and my new blog that I love so much!!!!
I love the way these nails came out and I definitely need to get more violet in my collection.  It looks good on me lol.

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 5

Posted by Starlett Approved at 12:55 PM 0 comments
Hey there, today is Day 5 of the challenge.  Wow, already half way finished with the color themes.  Today's theme is BLUE and I'm bringing to you my last summery nails.  No more neon nail polish for this girl  :( It's hard to see them go, they're just so...Awes-Mazing (Awesome+Amazing, yeah I did it lol).  The top of that neon polish I love list would have to be Nail-Venturous Floam.  It's a glitter polish packed with super fine neon blue and neon yellow round glitters, but you already know Floam!

I didn't even have it long enough to really enjoy it this summer. There's still a couple more Floamicures left in me.  Sadly they must wait till next summer.  Watch out Summer 2013 there's going to be floaming madness going on :)  Floam is so sexy and it makes ANYTHING a nail art panty dropper!  I swoon when I put it on my nails, it's so darn pretty.

Oh, animal print nail art...whatevs!  Wait, Floam base? 10x more awesome in my book at least haha.  I used 2 coats of it here, 3 coats probably would've been better but I'm happy with the 2.  This was my first time doing a white outlined leopard/cheetah print.  I really like it, it pops!  I love how New York Color Water Street Blue matches perfectly with the blue glitters in Floam.  Like it was made for one another, it just blends in.
It's so hard to say goodbye to summer because it means saying goodbye to a lot of my favorite nail polishes.  But I do look forward to the darks, metallics, glitters and holos of  the fall/winter season.

  • Nail-Venturous Floam

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 4

Posted by Starlett Approved at 7:50 PM 0 comments
Oh glorious green, quite possibly my favorite color, other than black of course.  Revlon Posh definitely being my favorite green nail color.  If you weren't sure, it's Day 4 and the theme is GREEN :). Being that summer is practically over and fall right around the corner. I want to get as many summery nails out of my system as possible.  Starting with today's Hawaiian floral design inspired/copied ;) from The Illustrated Nail!
She's a goddess with the nail paint, but I did my best.  I wish I wasn't a lazy procrastinator that decided not to do her nails for today last night.  I literally finished my nails about 2 hours ago.  Hence the late post...sorry!  I'm happy I finally did them and I LOVE THEM!

I never imagined that one day I would even be able to attempt a design like this.  Let alone it not come out like a hot mess haha.  All I used for this design was a nail pen and a super fine small brush.  You know how much I love to use as little as possible to do my nails.
Now after doing these I want to buy all the nail pens.  I want a rainbow of them and then some.  I guess I'll get it after my No Buy is over in December...CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!!  They are so pretty I can't stop glancing at my nails while I type.  Every time I look at them it puts me in the mood for a Luau or just a Mai Tai haha. Come on ladies join me for a drink or 2 or 3 :)

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 3

Posted by Starlett Approved at 12:05 PM 0 comments
Today is Day 3 of the challenge and the theme is YELLOW.  When I decided to do the the challenge the first thing I did was grab my notepad and brainstorm.  Planning ahead is the only way you will survive this thing.  Unless you're one of those people that rock at winging it!
My original idea for today was inspired by my sons toy but it felt too basic.  For this challenge I want to do designs that are new to me, simple and intricate.

I wore these shoes on Saturday.  I probably had these for 4 years now and only worn them once before. Problems of a shoe addict haha.  Sure it took me a whole day later to think to myself, "I should do these for my yellow challenge".  I'm oldish, it takes a while for me lol.

I really love how they came out and it wasn't even hard.  A pain in the butt for me because I still suck at stamping and I have the first generation Bundle Monster plates. They can't even cover my pinky nail :(

I started off by painting 2 coats of Sinful Colors Pull Over, my favorite yellow creme polish.  Waited for it to dry, then I sponged random black shapes and spots.  I gave my nails about 5 more minutes to dry before I started stamping.

Then my favorite part haha.  I love what you can do with stamping I'm just not that great at it :( I used image 1 on plate BM16. First I used New York Color Lexington Yellow but it was far too light and it was a bit sheer.  So I went over all my nails again stamping it with white nail polish.

I'm completely in love with these nails.  I seriously can't stop staring at them.  Next time I do snake skin nails I'll try to remember I have a snake and use her skin after she sheds.  At least it'll cover my nail completely :)

  • Sinful Colors Pull Over

Happy Labor Day Everyone!!! Thanks for stopping by it means a lot to me ;)

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 2

Posted by Starlett Approved at 2:36 PM 0 comments
It's insane how many ladies are doing the challenge right now..I love it!!!  The more the merrier right? The theme for today's challenge is Orange.  I didn't have a hard time figuring out what design to do today.  Being that I already planned to do Coral nails inspired by Sarah of Chalkboard Nails.

This is a very simple and pretty design and who doesn't like coral? Maybe jellyfish, did you know some coral eat jellyfish?  Insane! I learned that from The Octonauts lol.

Originally I was going to do it pretty identical to Sarahs design but I wanted more coral on each nail. Coral like to roll in packs and I wanted to convey that in my design. By using a light and dark shade of orange I was able to.

First I painted the light colored coral and then the darker one close enough to touch just a little.  Doing it this way gave the design depth.  The light coral looks like it's behind the dark coral but they are right next to each other ;) Check me out being all artsy haha!
My only regret with these nails was not adding glitter. Sparkle makes EVERYTHING better lol.  I'll definitely do this design again in the future and I won't forget the glitter.

Polishes Used:
  • New York Color Mulberry Street
  • Wet n Wild Sunny Side Up

31 Day Challenge 2.0 Day 1

Posted by Starlett Approved at 12:57 PM 0 comments
Last time around I wasn't that great with nail art and for the first 5 days I just did a solid color, tsk tsk.  I'm not going to do that this time, nail art EVERYDAY baby!  The first day of the challenge is RED!

As soon as I tried to think of a design to do for today Lush Lacquer Midnight Affair popped into my head.  It had to be a part of my manicure.  I figured Splatter nail art goes perfectly with it.  The bar glitter in Midnight Affair already gives it a splatter look, match made in heaven.

The last time I wore Midnight Affair I used a matte top coat and loved how it looked. That inspired me to do a matte red base with shiny black and white splatter.  Can I just say I LOVE LOVE LOVE the effect it gave the splatter?

The matte base gives the splatter so much depth and texture.  I'm just obsessed with it and will ALWAYS do a matte base with shiny splatter from now on.  Also, how gorgeous is Midnight Affair?  I love the way the red glitters pop against the matte black and white glitters.

I can't get enough of these nails, and they're super easy to do! That's always a win in my book especially when I have to do my nails according to my sons schedule and attitude haha.

Polishes Used:
  • Milani Rapid Cherry
  • New York Color French White Tip
  • Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris
